For 2004, a lighter 7005 aluminum frame with MegaPro downtube, semi-integrated headset and trailing link suspension. The entire rear triangle is a single-pivot trailing link: the simplest, most reliable way to control rear suspension. The carefully calculated pivot axis location, slightly above and slightly ahead of the bottom bracket, limits wheelbase change, assures that pedaling force does not cause “pogoing,” and supports the rear triangle where the frame is strongest. Unlike more commonly seen rocker shock linkages, our asymmetric tri-pivot linkage both adds rigidity to the rear triangle and changes shock compression from linear to progressive.
