We closely studied the needs for touring and all road cycling. By borrowing successful bits of frame geometry, tubing profiles, and materials; we are able to provide you the evolution of our Volpe platform which started three decades ago.
The Volpe melds the responsive handling of a road bike with the durability of a cyclocross bike. A variety of surfaces and conditions can be conquered thanks to generous tire clearance and reliable disc brakes. Our exclusive TIG welded; steel Chromolite frame and steel fork provide a smooth ride. Steel tubing is herald as the best value for bike construction when it comes to strength and vibration damping. Whether you’re navigating the Great Allegheny Passage to DC or working on your Super Randonneur achievement, you need to be comfortable on the bike. And for this a relaxed head tube angle is the basis of the Volpe geometry. This angle is a bit slacker than a standard performance road bike. Because of this you’ll fight the handlebars less when you’re caught by crosswinds. Next the chainstays have been stretched over their original length. At the rear drop outs you will find rack/fender bosses and at the other end, a lower-than-cyclocross bottom bracket drop. Lower and longer equates to faster and more stability over rough terrain. Mid mount bosses on the fork permit the use of front panniers.
Traction and pinch flat protection are paramount. For this, when it comes to adventure cycling, mountain bikers unanimously use tubeless tires. The Volpe Disc gives you that convenience with its Reparto Corse tubeless-ready wheel set. The Volpe Disc rims are laced to sealed bearing hubs of Shimano SLX-level weight specifications. With approved tubeless rim tape, stems, sealant, and tires, you can travel worry free on the Volpe Disc.
A reliable parts package from Shimano anchors the Volpe Disc for your riding needs. Compact gearing and a wide range cassette make quick work of the flattest or steep pitched roads that come your way!
